About The Fractal Hall Journal

You are reading the current incarnation of the Fractal Hall Journal, a weblog updated 5 times a week that’s mostly about SF, horror, comics and other things that get you beaten up at school.

The first version of the Fractal Hall was intended to be an archive of comics and writing by my good friend Marcel and I. At one point we were going to create an ongoing, downloadable PDF magazine of SF and Horror, published under a Creative Commons licence.

The grand plans fell to the wayside, as these things often do, mostly due to time constraints. The Fractal Hall site has needed a complete rehaul for a long while, and after a fruitless afternoon of trying to beat the creaky old pages into shape I decided to bin everything and start again. All the files are still floating around this address should anyone want to dig around for them, but frankly I wouldn’t recommend it anymore than I’d recommend brutally mixed metaphors. The whole thing ended up being a little clunky, so rest assured that (should it ever appear) Fractal Hall 2.0 will be cleaner, healthier and much more navigable, as long as “navigable” a) turns out to be a real word and b) means what I think it means.

While we hope to bring the comics and the fiction back one day, for the moment we will keep the Fractal Flag flying here, perched atop this weblog.

I’ve got in the habit of tinkering with the posts the morning after they’re published. So if you notice any grammar, phrase or tag changes, don’t worry- it’s not reality that’s being altered. Much.

Some highlights (or alternatively you can start at the beginning, here):

Superheroes, Delineated:
All the delineations so far.

Alhazred Heights:
The Hall’s very own Lovecraftian buddy comedy.

Primus v. Cthulhu:
Ineffably Ancient Desk Fauna.

M.A.S.K. The Motion Picture:
Kommand With A K? Really?

Misdirected Fanguish:
Fractal Films: I Am Legend (2007)
Kingmaker

Obligatory Cat Pictures:
Yup, Still On The Go-Slow
Oh Noes! Bank Holiday Burnout! This Can Mean Only One Thing
Kittens: Helping Out With The Transition Back To Regular Service

Somewhat Off-topic:
A Post in which I Lose My Shit over a Packet of Crisps.
